Parent Letter
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Prom season is officially upon us and tickets are on sale now. Forest Lake Area High School’s Prom 2018 is planned for Saturday, April 14th at Landmark Center in Downtown St. Paul from 8:30pm-11:30pm. Please note, due to declining participation, there will be no Grand March this year.
As your student begins (or continues) planning for the big night, we encourage you to be active participants in the planning process. For many students, this is one of the biggest nights of their high school career and they want it to be perfect. On our end, the preparations are in place for a great prom for the students and guests of Forest Lake Area High School. There is, however, always concern that something could happen to upset this happy occasion. In our effort to ensure a safe, chemical free event, we have taken great care to provide a great evening of dancing and other entertainment in a safe, well-chaperoned location. We ask your help in communicating with your son/daughter about the importance of enjoying a safe, chemical free evening. As your son/daughter plans prom activities, please be involved in the planning and decisions that are made, ensuring proper adult supervision and support. Any student or guest not behaving in a responsible way will have his/her parent called to pick him/her up from the prom venue.
Forest Lake Area High School does not endorse nor is it “common practice” for students to party on buses or in hotel rooms following the prom. Most hotels in the Twin Cities refuse rooms to high school students and have sent them home if they are found to be occupying rooms without any accompanying parent. Many parents host small post-prom gatherings in their home with supportive supervision. This has been quite successful in the past and provides students with safe alternatives.
As previously stated, tickets will be on sale to purchase through your (Parent) FeePay account March 2nd-April 1st. Purchasing tickets online will provide your student with a discount. Single tickets will be $40 and Couple tickets will be $80 when purchased through FeePay. If your student would rather pay cash, there will be two cash sale days March 29th and 30th. Tickets will be available for purchase (cash only) at lunches at a rate of $45 for singles and $90 for couples. Tickets will be picked up in lunches the week of prom. Please note, if your student is bringing a guest who does NOT attend Forest Lake Area Schools, there is an additional Guest Agreement that will need to be filled out and returned with a copy of the guest’s drivers license. This agreement must be completed and returned no later than March 30th or they will not be allowed to attend.
